ANDREA LIU
Small Projects
My work is often enjoyed as one-off pieces. Since every skin is tanned, dyed, stitched, woven by hand, every piece designed and made is unique. The commercial myth of "perfection" is broken when it comes to slow making, hand-crafting. Yet it is through the (im)perfect stitches, dyeing and making by hand that makes the product perfect. I consider every process, making sure that every part of the waste material is saved and used. Even more so, each skin is different ---- in size, texture, shade and temperament, which makes my work all the more special.
